These can be used to build customised interfaces to present options to non-Excel users as point and click, they can be used to put the firm's "livery" round a raw database query and transform it into a report or prepare it or even deliver it onto the firm's intranet. For IT staff who may be trained in programming technique, there is also VBA (Visual Basic for applications) which can be made to build entire business solutions in conjunction with LawSoft and Microsoft Office.
